The RiverStone | Handcrafted Coconut Timber & Stone Resin Serving Board | Moku Original
Place it on the table and the conversation stops.
The RiverStone is not a board you hide in a drawer — it is a piece you display, a surface you gather around, a story you tell your guests.
Please note: The RiverStone is made entirely to order. Please allow up to 4 weeks from the date of your order. This is not a factory item — every stage of its making is done by hand, with care, and without shortcuts.
The Art
The RiverStone is not simply a serving board. It is a meditation on patience.
The coconut timber represents a calm river — warm, fluid, unhurried. The stone resin, the granite layers of life through which it moves. And yet the river does not force its way. It does not rush. It simply continues, day after day, with quiet persistence and calm — and in doing so, it shapes the hardest stone in the world.
That is the story held in every RiverStone. The beauty you see in the timber's shifting tones and grain is the beauty of water in motion. The solidity of the resin is the mountain that has learned, over time, to yield.
Patience carves more than force ever could.
Why It Takes Time
The stone resin used in every RiverStone is slow-cured — a process that, depending on conditions, can take up to three days for the resin alone. There are no metallic chemical accelerants, no quick-dry shortcuts. The resin is allowed to cure at its own pace, the way nature intended, resulting in a finish that is harder, denser, and more beautiful than anything rushed could ever be.
Once cured, the board is sealed with a natural wood oil — again, slow and considered. No harsh chemicals. No artificial drying agents. Just oil, timber, and time.
Only when it is ready — truly ready — is it carefully packaged and sent to you.
The Timber
The RiverStone is made from sustainably sourced tropical coconut timber, sourced and worked here in the UK. Coconut timber is one of nature's most extraordinary materials — exceptionally dense, naturally resistant to moisture, and possessed of a depth of colour and hue that is unlike any other wood. Its tones shift from warm amber to deep chocolate, with a grain that catches the light differently at every angle. No two boards are ever the same.
This density is not just beautiful — it is functional. Coconut timber does not warp, does not absorb moisture readily, and does not yield easily to the pressures of daily use. It is a material built to last generations.
Proven in the Home
The very first RiverStone was made three years ago — not for sale, but for the maker's own kitchen. It has been used heavily, every week, since the day it was finished. Last night, looking at it again, it was as beautiful as the day it was made. Not a crack. Not a warp. Not a mark that time hadn't made more interesting.
That is when the decision was made to offer it to others.
Built to Work
The RiverStone is, at its heart, a chopping board — and it is one of the finest you will ever use.
The density of coconut timber means it takes a blade cleanly, without splintering or scarring in the way softer woods do. It does not absorb odours. It does not stain readily. It does not warp under the weight of daily kitchen life. The stone resin edge is impervious — it will not chip, will not absorb, will not yield.
This is a board made to be used. Not preserved behind glass. Not brought out only for guests. Used — every morning, every evening, for years. And it will look better for it.
The Stone Resin
Set alongside the timber, a hand-poured stone resin completes the piece — cool, smooth, and permanent. The contrast between the warm timber and the mineral resin is the visual heart of the RiverStone. It is nature, distilled.
Set it at the centre of your table. Arrange your cheeses, your charcuterie, your fruit. Watch it become the thing people reach for first — not the food, but the board itself.
